MeetKai Boosts Miami University’s Innovative AI Safety Training Initiative
July 21, 2025

We’re pleased to share that MeetKai is collaborating with Miami University on an important new workforce development effort, aimed at advancing safety training for Ohio’s manufacturing sector, and reducing preventable workplace injuries for over 700,000 of Ohio’s manufacturing workers.

Miami University recently received a $1.5 million grant from the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation to launch the Safety Immersion and Gamified Hazard Training (SIGHT) initiative. The program combines artificial intelligence, virtual reality, and augmented reality to create more effective, personalized, and accessible safety training for industrial workers.

As part of this effort, MeetKai is providing the advanced VR development tools that will help power scalable, AI-driven training modules. The VR training platform will use generative AI to simulate realistic hazard scenarios and adapt to the specific environments and skill levels of individual workers, helping them build stronger hazard recognition instincts and stay prepared for changing workplace conditions.

Unlike traditional safety training, which is infrequent and doesn’t address changing workplace hazards, the SIGHT program uses AI to deliver continuously updated training content that workers can access anytime through a web browser — no specialized equipment required. This approach is especially valuable for small and mid-sized companies that may not have dedicated safety training staff or extensive technical infrastructure.

The platforms will reduce preventable workplace injuries for over 700,000 of Ohio’s manufacturing workers and also accommodate diverse users through natural language interfaces, making training accessible to multilingual, hard of hearing, or low vision individuals.

“We’re proud that our tools will play a part in making this training widely available, supporting Miami University’s mission to bridge education, innovation, and workforce development” Said Kevin Bresnahan, MeetKai’s Vice President of Business Development, “This is an exciting example of how MeetKai’s technology can help create practical solutions that have a direct impact on safety and job readiness in real-world industrial settings”.
